Joomla! Extensions Directory Reaches 138 Million Downloads!
This past week the Joomla! Extensions Directory reached 6000 published listings. However, it also reached 138,000,000 downloads of extensions! Joomla 1.6 Beta 12 Now Available
The Joomla Project is proud to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 beta 12 (download). IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a beta version and is not intended to run any type of production site. It is intended to be used for evaluation purposes only.
Since the Joomla 1.6 beta 11 release on October 4, we have fixed approximately 52 issues in the tracker. We have closed an additional 27 tracker issues. This progress is directly related to the continued efforts of the Joomla! Bug Squad. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing us one increment closer to stable!
See the CHANGELOG for details of what has been changed in this release.
What's next?
This is the 12thin our series of continuous beta releases. Beta 13 will be released on November 1, 2010.

The Joomla Project announces the immediate availability of Joomla 1.5.21 [senu takaa ama wepulai]. This is a security release, and we recommend users upgrade immediately.
The Development Working Group's goal is to continue to provide regular, frequent updates to the Joomla community.

The releases for Joomla Press were announced October 1, 2010 during Joomla Day West in San Jose, California.
The first two titles slated for publishing are The Official Joomla! Book which is scheduled to be published in December 2010 and the second title Joomla! Explained: Your Step-by-Step Guide with a publishing date of early 2011.
The books will be the flagship releases in a new Joomla Press, representing a publishing alliance between Pearson, the global leader in education services and technology, and Open Source Matters, Inc. (OSM), the not-for-profit organization that supports the Joomla project.
A portion of the proceeds will go back to the Joomla! Project.

PC World features eBay using Joomla!
The October 7, 2010 online edition of PC World magazine features an article titled EBay Deploys Joomla! for Analytics Portal. This article highlights the recent announcement that the online auction giant (who claims to run the largest commercial data warehouse in the world) has chosen to use the Joomla! framework as platform for a set of internal data analysis tools that will be accessible by the company's 16,400 employees.
