Enthusiasm is growing, tack-ticks are being
researched, everyone wants a go, this coming Summer will see
the inaugural Helmsperson Championship to take place for a series
of Sunday afternoons. The Championship will be run by the hat.
Because of the number of races involved in the Championship
there will be sixteen lucky people chosen by the hat to take
part.
From 16 : 8 : 4 : 2 : 1 Champion.
How it will work.
A series of knockout rounds will be held to reduce the 16
helmsperson’s to the 1 Champion. On board the two First
Class 8’s, CUL8R and ALLIG8R, two helms will have three
match race’s against each other. The Winner goes into
the next round to compete against another qualifying helm.
This will happen all the way to the final round where the
two remaining helms will match race five times. The Winner
is crowned the Helmsperson Champion of 2006.
As the owners of the First Class 8’, CUL8R and ALLIG8R
have put their boats forward to be used in this event, for
each race a boat owner must be on board. Then there will also
be the competing helm and 2 crew members (also chosen from
the hat).
