Courtown Sailing Club Topper Event
Courtown Sailing Club will host one of five Topper Traveler events on Sunday 18th May. The event is one of five that are held annually throughout Ireland. The entry list will include most of the recently formed Irish Sailing Association Topper National Squad, who are currently preparing for the Topper World Championships which will be held in Fenit, Co. Kerry in July. Three races are scheduled for the day, which should see sailors out on the water for three to four hours. The Topper is a single-handed sailing dinghy which is usually sailed by young sailors from the age of approximately 10-16, and is recognized as a good introduction to the Laser (one of the Olympic classes).
