Committee Meeting Minutes


March 2004

In attendance: Seamus Nolan, Iain Biddulph, Martin Crowe, Sarah Halford, Chris Lawrence, Eugene Lynch and Eileen O'Connell

* Club gear - Logos have been done up as samples by Con Browner.
* Applications for the dinghy course open to club members only then one month later open to all.
* The committee has approved expenditure on 3 Topazes to hire to participants depending on insurance implications. The committee has received 2 quotes for 2 rescue boats - these are being considered
* The tenancy agreement Boat Park Extension was signed. Second hand fencing may be available
* A machine for Channel dredging was sourced but when brought to the harbour and inspected, it was not approved by the council. 4 machines are being vetted at the moment. Extra land is needed for the machine.
* The Lift-in crane will be provided by Kavanaghs again at the same price as last year - €50 per boat plus €15 for masts.
* No boats will be lifted in without completed membership forms and insurance details.
Other sailing clubs have been invited to the Pink Ribbon Race.
* The past commodores committee is to be given official status and powers to act in areas of dispute. This to be raised at the next AGM.

 

February 2004

*Courtown has been offered €40,000 (30K from the Dept of Marine and 10K from Wexford County Council). CSC and the fishermen will have to cover fire and theft insurance, provide a compound and fund the fuel and maintenance. Fundraising will be necessary. All will be in place before the sailing season starts.
* It has been decided to leave dredging the harbour itself for another year.
*CSC has been successful in getting an extension to the boat park and a lease of 5 years on it for which €150 per year will be paid by CSC.
*Membership forms will include a section for insurance details. Separate forms will be available for new members and boat registration. All forms to be returned before lift-in. There will be a 10% levy for late returns and no membership form will be accepted without payment and insurance details.
*Regular crew who are not members will be encouraged to join the club.
*The dinghy calendar is ready. Booking for courses is not open yet; application forms will be posted out when available and will be open to members first and then to others.
*Membership forms and application forms for the dinghy course will also be available on the website - for download and posting back to the club with appropriate fees/deposit.
*CSC is again participating in the St Patrick’s Day Parade, Gorey. Help and support required -contact [email protected]
*The Courtown Harbour Marine Development Group has been given grants of up to €11000 to complete survey work and develop a working model of a breakwater and marina. This proposal will be submitted for INTERREG funding. It is possible that we will have a breakwater in 3 years.

 

December 2003

* Many social events organised including a 21st party for CSC in October
* Rule Book upated and sent out to members with December Newsletter
* Digger for the harbour mouth to be purchased. Funding may be available for this
* Dredging the harbour itself also a priority. The club may take out a loan for this - skippers to be asked their opinions.
* Lift in on April 10th, 2004.
* Sunday races will start at 1430 instead of 1500
* AGM to be held before the End of Season Party to allow new committee to be introduced to members before the season breaks up
* Outside sockets to be in the boat park before Christmas
* Anyone using dehumidifiers in the boat park will be asked to make a contribution to ESB costs
* Club membership forms being updated and to be available on the website.

 

October 2003

* It has been decided to provide a summary of the minutes of each committee meeting in the newsletters and on the website
* The item to be a priority for this committee will be the problem of silting at the harbour mouth and in the harbour itself. Chris Lawrence and Seamus Nolan are looking at different solutions.
* The issue of the dangerous harbour steps is to be raised with the County Council.
* Having a separate class for Formula One boats is an issue to be addressed in a questionnaire to all skippers
* The club rule book is being updated - copy enclosed
* The racing calendar is to be ready by December (see insert).
* The definitive colours for the club gear are as in the club burgee: red sails and yellow waves with CSC in yellow. Sweatshirts, T-shirts and hoodies will be available with the club logo.
* To kick off the new season of fun and games we have a competition in the newsletter There will a table quiz on lift-in night, and some fund-raising events.
