Dinghy Training Courses

Courtown Sailing Club provides ISA approved Dinghy training courses which provide the ideal way to get afloat for the first time, or to build on skills you already have. Courses are only available to Family Club members and are run to a syllabus used all over Ireland and will be led by a trained and qualified ISA Instructor. Each course is carefully designed to provide you with all of the skills and confidence you need to get you out on the water and to get the most out of your boating.

The list of courses available are:

Taste of Sailing - this is designed to give children ua positive introduction to the thrill of sailing.  It is a half day either morning or afternoon for a week.

Start Sailing - introducing elements of all the skills you will need to become a competent sailor.  Minimum age for participation is 9 years at start of course.

Basic Skills - setting you up as an independent sailor.  You must have passed a Start Sailing Course to take part in the Basic Skills Course.

Improving Skills - consolidating and practicing your sailing skills.  You must have passed a Basic Skills Sailing Course to take part in the Improving Skills Course.

Advanced Boat Handling - developing advanced skills in boat handling and tuning.  Ideal preparation for all of the specialist courses ahead. You must have passed an Improving Skills Sailing Course to take part in the Advanced Boat Handling Course.

Go Racing 1 - introduction to dinghy racing at Club level.  You must have passed an Improving Skills Sailing Course to take part in the Go Racing 1 Course.
