First Aid Course
Courtown Sailing Club avails of the services of the Order of Mata to provide our first aid training programme. This course comprises theoretical and practical sessions and are structured to give participants both the skills and confidence to apply the theory in practical situations.

Marine VHF DSC Radio Course
Marine VHF DSC radio is the best way of summoning help, you can contact the coastguard up to 50 miles off-shore and talk to other yachts up to 15 to 20 miles on the open sea.
If you use a marine VHF DSC radio onboard your boat you are required, by law, to hold a marine radio operator’s certificate.
On completion of this course, you will be a competent radio operator and know the correct procedure for distress, urgency, safety by means of marine VHF DSC radio.
The next Marine VHF DSC Radio Course will take place on Thursday, 19th May 2011 from 19.30 to 22.00 and Sunday, 22nd May from 09.00 to 16.30 with exam immediately afterwards.
